In 2014, Polytechnic University of Lisbon created the Occupational Health Service (SSO-IPL) in close coordination with ESTeSL. In addition to complying with the legislation in force on the health and safety of Polytechnic University of Lisbon workers, SSO-IPL also provides occupational health services to other institutions that make use of Polytechnic University of Lisbon’s services.

This service brings together a multidisciplinary team made up of occupational physicians, occupational health nurses, a psychologist, a senior clinical secretariat technician, work safety technicians, emergency and first aid trainers, and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians in the areas of clinical analysis, audiology, cardiopulmonology and orthoptics.

The service also promotes other health and well-being activities for the wider academic community, with a special focus on students. Several initiatives are developed in this area, including PASS-IPL – Polytechnic University of Lisbon’s Healthy and Sustainable Eating Programme.
