For Polytechnic University of Lisbon, entrepreneurship is part of its educational mission and a way of supporting the economy. As such, the institution has a long tradition of working with businesses and society to respond to new challenges in the fields of Arts, Education, Business Sciences, Communication, Engineering and Health Sciences.

Through its participation in several collaborative networks, Polytechnic University of Lisbon promotes the development of projects with companies and public entities. At the same time, it seeks to encourage entrepreneurial initiatives and support the creation of start-ups, helping to enhance the value of the research carried out within the institution.

ACE – Academy for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, promoted by Polytechnic University of Lisbon, aims to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and give students the opportunity to develop initiatives that respond to real challenges and needs in Portuguese society and the economy. Every year, Polytechnic University of Lisbon organises training activities and an ideas competition — the ACE Challenge — and the winners go on to take part in Born From Knowledge, the national higher education competition promoted by ANI – Agência Nacional de Inovação.
