Personal data

The implementation of a quality assurance policy, in line with internationally established standards, is one of the institutional objectives of Lisbon Polytechnic Institute. It is enshrined in the statutes and other strategic documents, in compliance with internationally established standards.

Lisbon Polytechnic is a high level public higher education institution, oriented towards the creation, transmission and diffusion of knowledge, culture, arts, science and technology, through study, teaching, research, development and knowledge transfer. Its mission is to produce, teach and disseminate knowledge, art and culture, as well as to provide services to the community in the areas where it has competence, contributing to its consolidation as a reference institution in the national and international plan.

The President of the Polytechnic of Lisbon is the institution's top governing and external representation body.

The President is the governing body of institution policy and chairs the Management Board, the Permanent Council and the Academic Council.

The President is elected by the General council, by secret ballot, under the terms set by the present statutes.

The General Council is one of the governing bodies of Politécnico de Lisboa (IPL), consisting of 33 elements:

  • 17 professors and researchers;
  • 5 students; 1 employee;
  • 10 are invited external personalities.

 

The promotion of community insertion linked to professional and business activities, corresponding to the acting area of IPL schools, and contributing to a solid vocational training in higher education, are the main goals of the presence of these external members.

Located in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, IPL – Politécnico de Lisboa is a public institution with a long history in the field of higher education, composed of the following eight schools:

The area of Business Communication constitutes as a strategic function of management, indispensable in any institution: companies, public bodies or not-for-profit entities. Through the labs, which combine a practical strand grounded in theoretical-scientific sabers, students go through various areas and professional experiences, devising communication tools or proposing public relations campaigns, as a direct response to challenges launched by companies from the most varied sectors of activity (at national and international level).
